Common DTF & DTG Print Problems Most Shops Struggle With

ActionSeps DTX DTF DTG Separation Software Black Shirt Mockup Black Box

Black Box & Waste of Ink

The dreaded black box. It looks unprofessional. The black never matches the shirt, isn't breathable, and a waste of time and ink.

ActionSeps DTX DTF DTG Separation Software Black Shirt Mockup White Haze Border

White Haze or Halo

DTG & DTF softwares create a white halo, or haze around feathered transitions. Resulting in dumbed down or limited artistic expression.

Seamless Transitions

ActionSeps™ DTX Live seamlessly integrates artwork onto shirts, eliminating ink waste, the black box, and white haze, ensuring professional, breathable prints.

Does this sound familiar?

Tired of the limitations of DTF or DTG printing, especially when dealing with white haze and messy transparency issues?

Have you had to reprint and order, issue a refund, or even lose a client because the print didn’t turn out right? 💩

Maybe you’ve tried manually separating artwork in Photoshop, Corel, or other design software, spending hours separating files that should have been ready to print.

Or maybe you’re just tired of wasting ink on box backgrounds and poorly prepared artwork.

If any of this sounds familiar… you’re not alone.

Most DTF and DTG printing problems aren’t caused by the printer.

They’re caused by bad artwork preparation.

Which is exactly why I built ActionSeps™ DTX Live.

A DTF & DTG artwork separation system built specifically for t-shirt printing.

Use it in your browser…
or directly inside Photoshop…

The DTX Separation Engine™

At the heart of ActionSeps™ DTX Live is a custom-built processing system designed specifically for garment printing.

Instead of treating your artwork like a normal image editor, the DTX Separation Engine™ analyzes your artwork and processes changes live in real time. As you adjust the controls, the preview instantly updates so you can see exactly how your artwork will separate and print.

The DTX Separation Engine™ automatically generates:

  • Smart transparency masks
  • Halftone-ready artwork
  • Optimized white underbase control

Powerful Controls.
Simple Workflow.

ActionSeps™ DTX Live gives you the tools to prepare professional DTF and DTG. Everything follows a simple workflow. Upload your artwork, adjust a few controls, and export clean, print-ready files. As you make adjustments, the preview updates live in real time so you can instantly see how your artwork will separate and print.

Image Size & Crop Control

Instead of bouncing between programs just to resize a design, ActionSeps™ DTX Live lets you scale and crop your artwork directly inside the app. Quickly adjust the image to match your print area, trim unwanted space, and prep designs for chest prints, full fronts, sleeves, or oversized graphics without breaking your workflow or exporting files over and over again.

ActionSeps Removes Background to Prepare DTF and DTG prints

Background Removal

Stop wrestling with the pen tool or bouncing out to another app just to knock out a background. ActionSeps™ DTX Live removes it for you in seconds, and hands back a clean, transparent PNG ready to drop straight into your print workflow. It handles the edges that usually trip everything up, fine lines, hair, intricate detail, without leaving a messy halo behind. And when you need it perfect, a built-in edge choke tightens the cutout down to a flawless edge. No more fringe, no more redos, no more starting over in another program.

Image Adjustment Tools

Make your blacks truly black and your whites truly white before you ever hit separate. The new Image Adjustments panel brings real Levels control right into DTX Live, complete with black and white point eyedroppers, just click the spot you want pure black or pure white, and the image corrects itself. Need to shift the color too? Hue, Saturation, and Lightness sliders let you dial in the exact look you’re after in seconds. It’s the tonal and color cleanup you’d normally do in Photoshop, built right where you actually prep your art.

Shirt Color Preview & Knockout Control

Choose the garment color and instantly preview how your artwork blends into the fabric. DTX Live can automatically knock out the shirt color so the design integrates naturally with the garment instead of sitting on top like a sticker. That means no black boxes, no white haze, and no surprises when the transfer hits the shirt.

Precise Halftone Control

Adjust dots size from 15–55 LPI, control the halftone angle, and choose between multiple dot shapes including circle, ellipse, diamond, square, and line. This gives you precise control over how gradients transition into printable dots so your artwork keeps its detail while still producing breathable, professional prints.

ActionSeps DTX Live browser-based DTF and DTG separation software generating clean halftones and print-ready artwork

Levels Control that makes Photoshop’s look like the Temu version...

Forget basic sliders. DTX Live gives you a powerful histogram and gamma curve so you can dial in how artwork transitions into transparency and halftones. The result is smoother gradients, cleaner separations, and artwork that prints the way it should.

Build Your White Base

When you’re ready to finalize your white base, you can generate it in real time and instantly see how it will print. Adjust the choke from 0–2 pixels to tighten edges and prevent white from peeking out around your halftones. Then save it as a layer, mask, or spot color channel, giving you full control for production, revisions, or repeat orders without reworking the file from scratch.

Save & Recall your work

When you’re done dialing in your settings, you can save the project as a .dtx file which stores both the artwork and all of your adjustments together. This allows you to reopen the file later, tweak the settings, prepare revisions for a customer, or rerun the artwork for repeat orders without starting the process over from scratch.

Stop guessing.
See the separation.

DTX Live gives you multiple preview modes so you can instantly see how your artwork is being processed. Toggle between the Original image, Separation view, Mask preview, or Split View to compare everything side-by-side. That means no surprises when it comes time to print.

Nope. It Works On White, Black, And Color Shirts Too.

Frequently Asked Questions

DTF and DTG separation software prepares artwork so it prints correctly on garments. This process removes unwanted backgrounds, creates transparency, smooths halftones, and optimizes artwork for printing on fabric.

ActionSeps™ DTX Live is a DTF and DTG artwork preparation system designed specifically for garment printing. It allows print shops to upload artwork, remove black box backgrounds, eliminate white haze, and generate professional print-ready files.

Because ActionSeps™ DTX Live runs directly in your browser and Photoshop, it works on both Mac and Windows computers and allows users to prepare clean DTF and DTG artwork in seconds.

Your choice. ActionSeps™ DTX Live comes as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase.

The monthly and yearly plans start with a 7-day free trial, so you can test everything before you’re charged. Prefer to skip the subscription? The Lifetime plan is a single $147 payment with no renewals.

Every plan includes the web app, the Photoshop plugin, training tutorials, and access to the private community, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can try it completely risk-free.

I don’t provide separated test files because every DTF setup prints differently.

Instead, members receive a DPI/LPI test sheet to send to their printer or provider. This helps determine what halftone dot your setup can hold and how well the white base aligns with CMYK.

Whether you run your own machine or use a print provider, this allows you to properly dial in your settings before running real designs.

Yes. ActionSeps™ DTX Live was designed with a simple, easy-to-use interface so anyone can jump in and start preparing artwork quickly.

The built-in training videos walk you through the workflow step-by-step, and our private Facebook community is there if you ever need help or want to see how other print shops are using the software.

No. ActionSeps™ DTX Live works with standard raster images like PNG and JPG files. Simply upload your artwork into ActionSeps™ DTX Live and use the built-in tools to remove backgrounds, smooth halftones, and prepare professional print-ready files.

Vector artwork can still produce excellent results at any size, but it’s not required to create high-quality DTF or DTG prints.

If you need help accessing your account or have any billing questions, reach out to support@actionseps.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Support hours are Monday–Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM CST (excluding holidays).
